This is now an established European art biennial for young artists. The biennial will continue to be developed in co-operation with the host city, and thus the programme, theme and context is expected to vary from year to year.
The first three biennials have been hosted by three Nordic Cultural Capitals of Europe which has given a solid organisation a financial platform for the initiative.
The city for 2002 is Hamburg to be hosting the 4th biennual around the Baltic Sea.
The biennial is not just seen as a presentation platform to the best young artists in the region, but also as a forum for projects and productions, dialogue and contacts.
